| Robinson Cano: Too Cool For Ice Cream? |

 word to the wise: do not offer this man ice cream.
It’s one thing to turn down hundreds of autograph-seekers while you’re out on a hot date, or if perhaps you’re busy saving kittens from tall trees. But at an ice cream parlor, where the fans had paid good money for your signature?! Get out of here.
At a lovely little sports memorabilia/ice cream shop – and who says the two don’t go hand in hand? – in Scarsdale, NY this weekend, Cano disappointed hundreds of eagerly awaiting fans with his blasé attitude. The shop, called Last Licks, had organized something of a “meet and greet” for Cano, and was supposed to entail some autograph signing (at $50 a pop!) and a brief interview. Instead of the happy, spry rookie we fans had been watching all year, the fans were greeted by an irritated, unshaven young man on his cell phone. Cano reportedly signed a few autographs, refused to take pictures or shake fans’ hands, and declined the aforementioned interview.
Personally, this kind of “too good” attitude disappoints me. I suppose I could look at it as a sign of immaturity (he is only 23), but it still irks me. We never saw Jeter or Bernie behave this way, not at a planned public appearance anyway. I still like Cano and am looking forward to watching him next season, but he’ll have to redeem himself with some better public behavior – perhaps he’d like to be a part of a featured interview on Yankees Chick?

Clearly, that was Bizarro World Cano. Yankees are always upstanding gentlemen who are clean cut, shaven and groomed, love their fans, and save cats from trees and old ladies from burning buildings in the off-season :)

That's really disappointing. It looks as if Cano has already begun taking what I've deemed the "Soriano Slide."

its a disgrace. I mean can you play in the majors a bit more than a year, before you become a spoiled prima donna. I heard rumors where he has attitude problems beyond that. If this is the case I hope they deal him while they may still be able to get something in return. We don't exactly need his bat and his defense was spotty at best.

I guess you had a terrible experience. But i met Cano at a Last Licks and he was extremely nice. When he first walked in i said "Hey Rob" and his reply was "What's going on?" and then later when i went to get his autograph i asked him to write happy birthday and his manager said he couldnt but he said " Of course i will" and so he did after i recieved a handshake. Cano was a GENTLEMEN!!! He is a NICE GUY!

hey there ive been Cano soo many times...and hes always been such a gentleman to me. i dunno or i catch him on good days for some reason then... but he is sweet to me..hes amazing and nice, you mightve got him on a bad day? i dunno.
