Top Ten Tuesdays: Sincerity and Kindness (For Realsies)
Tuesday, October 30, 2007
There is obviously a plethora of topics to discuss in baseball-ville today (Girardi accepting the offer, Posada and Mo are free agents, Torre and Mattingly will probably be taking their Dynamic Duo act out west to the Dodgers… oh and something about some team winning some championship?), but first and foremost: it is Top Ten Tuesday! Because of the barrage of news/excitement/hoopla/disgrace, I simply could not decide what my Top Ten Topic would be this Tuesday (alliterations make me happy). I have instead opted to do two Top Tens today… here’s the first!

Top Ten Nice Things I’d Like to Say About The Red Sox
10) No one truly choked
9) Ortiz didn’t f*ck up at first base
8) JD Drew came through
7) Pitching only gave up a total of 3 homers over the 4 games. That’s impressive in both stadiums.
6) Josh Beckett struck out NINE batters. In 7 innings.
5) 6 starters hit over .300 in the series.
4) Papelbon was a champ – pitched like there was no pressure whatsoever.
3) Ellsbury, Lugo, and Lowell ALL had .500 OBP. Hot damn.
2) Starting pitching was fan-fucking-tastic. Jealous? Hell yes.
1) It was absolutely ridiculous, selfish, egotistical, and above all, disrespectful, for Boras to announce the opt-out decision during game 4.

Yeah, I hate the Sox – and their fans even more – but I can give credit where credit is due. Well played, my foes, well played.

Check back in a bit for a 2nd round of Top Ten Tuesdays… The A-Rod Edition.

Wow.....most arrogant move in the history of baseball(other than Rafy Palmiero lying about roids while testifying before Congress). Game 4, Sox(can't even spell Socks right)about to win the Series and these jokers announce free-agency after sending a text and leaving a voicemail for Yankees brass(for the record I think the Steinbrenners don't have all of their dogs barking). Then they claim it's not about the money, but about the transition of the team. DO THESE YO-YO'S THINK WE ARE ALL STUPID. As a Yankee fan...good ridance to A-Rod...the least clutch and most overpaid Yankee of all time!

Thanks for the kind words about my Sox. The Sox were lucky in many ways. When they traded for Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell was THROW-IN, salary dump by the Marlins, and guess who was the team's MVP this season?

And A-Rod? Well, he's a nonentity. His free agency is being driven by the greediest man in Baseball, Scott Boras.

"yanks and sox fans "hate" each other in a fun way. right?"

Yup. I'd like to think that on the real issues (Boras is a jackass, Barroid is a cheater, etc., etc.), we can agree! :-)

And BTW, even though you and I are coming at each other from the opposite end of the political spectrum, I can't say that I hate any of the Dems. I may not agree with a thing they say or believe, but I respect their right to say and believe what they want. I'd like to think that most people in this country feel that way, no matter where they are politically.
