Aging Moose Has Become Easy Prey

In addition to my usual Yankees Chick posts, I have also begun writing regularly for AOL's FanHouse blog. I will post the beginnings of those articles here on YC, and then you'll have to click the link to jump on over to FH to read the rest... stick with me here, amigos!

Mike Mussina was once an integral part of the Yankees rotation, but I fear those days are in the past. After a rough 2007 season, during which he went 11-10 with a 5.15 ERA and performed so erratically that he even got busted down to bullpen duty for a short time, he is now having an equally rough spring. He has pitched twice now, and while his first brief outing, a couple innings in the intrasquad game was halfway decent - four hits and two earned runs allowed in two innings - his performance yesterday against the Astros was disastrous. In less than three innings, he gave up six hits and allowed four earned runs while striking out just two.

    I would hope Hank isn't planning on trading Mussina seeing as he has a no-trade clause written into his contract.

    Yes they can, but at a cost, and its usually a lot more difficult. No trade clauses give the player all the say in the matter. They can hand select what teams they want to go to, and can set the terms on how much money they want to waive the clause. If the player doesn't want to leave, they don't have to.
