Question For Y'all
Sunday, July 20, 2008
The trade deadline is just under 11 days away, and there are names aplenty being tossed around as potential acquisitions. Whether the need to make a move is up for discussion - especially because, lest you have forgotten, we've got a couple potentially good starters in Hughsie and I-Ken (we hope) as well as Matso Ball and Damon rotting on the DL - but the question for the day is who they might want if they DO make a move.

Submit your suggestions in the comments, and I'll make sure to let the Steinbrothers and the Cash Man know what we've decided when I have my bi-weekly chat with them tomorrow (obv).

I hope they get an OF and a relief pitcher.

I would love to see Holliday or Bay, but knowing that cheapo Brian Cashman, it'll probably be a Nady-type-player.

Same for the bullpen. Would love a lefty, such as Mahay or Sherrill. Even Damaso.

Hey Yankees Chick, you single, or you got a man?

A hot, Irish Chick that loves the Yankees... And people say there is no god.

    Will you marry me?

I have heard Ichiro's name tossed around on a few sports talk shows and I, personally, thought it was something that would've happened sooner.

With Cashman's idea of hoarding prospects needing to be tossed out the window for this to happen I say, GET ON IT!!!! I would love to see some more home grown talent come up through to the bigs but don't wanna see a 3rd or 4th place finish in the last season of The Stadium.

I like the idea of Ichiro leading off...... (picture Homer drooling over a free case of Duff's)

Bay and/or would be nice, and cheaper but we need speed (SB's) and on base percentage at the top of the order. Not another guy to go along with the "bloop and a blast" mentality that sinks many-a-team. We need to get better at "manufacturing runs" and Ichiro would do that along with putting another cannon in the OF.

Wishing for Matt Holliday ..... probably won't happen ... but be nice to have him patrol right field instead of Abreu (defense is just atrocious) .... pitching and defense wins championship ..... maybe they can trade Abreu (Angels maybe .. they seems to be a good fit) and get a prospect or two and package him with someone else and have them ship to Colorado for Holliday .... maybe

Hmm maybe icebolt is onto something. Think we could pick up Willitz? We need that kinda of singles hitting base stealing little pest to go with the mashers. He would be alot cheaper than Ichiro too.

I would love, LOVE, to see Holliday but I think the Rockies would want too much.

Ah, what the hell, lets go get Bubba back!

Holliday is obviously a front runner, but I would be as excited as hell if the rumors about Ichiro are true. What's the line on Ervin Santan's contract?

Oh, and I also agree with anonymous about you being hot.

No way LAA gets rid of Ervin, even if he is in a walk year. They are living and dying by their pitching.

What rumors have the bloggin babe (....let us pray....) heard? Who would you like to see the Yankees pick up YC?

Seriously though, we get a speedster-lead off kinda guy look the f&*^ out. If we get another masher, The Stadium shuts down in September. The Yankees have enough pitching if the majority of the line up lives up to expectations. If we could add an Ichiro type, I'd bet my salary that the runs/game goes up atleast 1.5 runs per. Get another masher and the strike outs, stranded runners, and double plays hit into per go up the 1.5.

I just read through all the comments and I think are fans are on some serious drugs.

Just curious why everyone thinks we need a lead off man? Damon is doing better in every statistical category then Ichiro other then Steals! Please explain how all of a sudden we would score 1.5 more runs per game? Also don't forget that Ichiro is a 20 Million dollar man. We didn't trade your prospects for the best pitcher in the game at the time (Santana) so what makes you think we'll do it for an outfielder? Good pitching beats good hitting every time.

Also Holiday's number's outside of Coors Field really aren't that good. And if we did happen to dump the farm for him, which we would HAVE to do, why would he play right field? He's a left fielder and Abrau has a cannon himself. He isn't the best left fielder in the game, but I'm very please with what he provides the team. Also why are the Angels in the market for a 5th outfielder? They would have to be idiots to ship out a great pitcher for another outfielder, just doesn't make since.

In my opinion, why not sign Bonds?

First off I want to left it be known that I don't even like Bonds. But on the plus side...He's the league minimum. We get another good bat who happens to be a lefty in a park that was made for lefties. There is no long term commitment. He fills the DH roll with power. We get to keep all of our prospects instead of dumping them for a player that will cost the team millions.

Oh and Cashmen is not cheap, he's smart...very smart! I do believe we have the most expensive team in the game, so I'm not sure how that makes him cheap?

    What are your thought YC?
