Hold Off on That Moose-Hunt After All
Thursday, March 13, 2008
Last week we were just about ready to put our Mooster out to pasture, and while I'm still not entirely convinced he's not dunzo, he made a case for himself today against the Pirates. He pitched five full innings and didn't give up nary a hit! Nor did he walk a man! Such a performance deserves a patented death-arm-blow from Shelley. Perhaps he has been perusing Yankees Chick (obviously every person in the world, including players, reads this site obsessively) and desperately wanted to win a coveted YCPOSTTF award? I suppose he could have just taken what he learned from his last miserable outings and adjusted accordingly, but I prefer the YCPOSTTF theory.

Despite today's encouraging performance, I'm still not sold on Mussina. Recall, if you will, the roller coaster journey he took us reluctant passengers on last summer. There is a reason the YCD calls him Pussina. He's not going anywhere, of course, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. I'm remaining skeptical of the man for the time being. You?
