Welcome to the 22nd of 30 "2008 Team Previews", where I'm - you guessed it! - offering up a little preview of the 2008 season for each of the teams. Nothing super fancy, (I'm not writing books here munecas), just a few notes on what major moves the teams made over the winter and a thought or two on their upcoming season. I'm running out of time since the season is underway, but I'll try to churn out these last few asap!
I'm going in reverse order of 2007 standings, so next up is....
Seattle Mariners 2007 Record: .543 (88-74), 2nd place in AL West 2006 Record: .481 (78-84), last place in AL West
Who’s Out: Adam Jones (OF), George Shirrell (P), Ben Broussard (1B)
Who’s In: Pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, Carlos Silva (P), Miguel Cairo (INF), Brad Wilkerson (P), Erik Bedard (P)
Notes: The Mariners came so close yet so far last year - will they fare better this year? No. Too many better teams. "Good" ain't good enough these days, and one Erik Bedard does not a playoff team make. Sorry.
