The Yanks are all BFF, Seriously. Wait, Where's Jorgie?
Tuesday, February 17, 2009
A-Rod continued his Groveling Tour 2009 today by holding a press conference down in Tampa, and this time he had a posse with him. Just about every Yank on the roster showed up, as did much of the staff, including Girardi, the Cash Man, and many of A-Rod's coaches. While A-Rod "explained" his actions (give the guy a break, who among us wouldn't allow our cousin to inject us with a mysterious substance? Come on, it's available over the counter in the Dominican! That means it's safe) and shed a tear or two, his teammates sat stoicly by his side, kindly reserving judgement for their dear, dear friend.

Oh, except for Posada, who got up and left in the middle of the soul-bearing session (in case you missed it: A-Rod is embarrassed and disappointed; repeat that sentiment 10,000 times if you'd like to recreate the press conference for yourself in your own brain) and didn't manage to make a return appearance. Without knowing the full story/his excuse, let's just pretend he ate some bad cheese at the pre-event luncheon and couldn't leave the bathroom. Certainly he wasn't just being a dick, right?

Actually... I don't even care where Jorgie ran off to or what the player's have to say about this latest apology. What's done is done, A-Rod clearly feels bad and he certainly won't be doing anything (that) stupid again. Please let this be the last leg of the Sorry-a-thon.

Can we get some baseball going now?

    "A-Rod clearly feels bad and he certainly won't be doing anything (that) stupid again."

    You've got to be kidding, right? He's not sorry he juiced, he's sorry he got caught, like Clemens and Pettitte and Giambi before him. He's a disgraced, plastic phony who has concocted a story he hopes is vague enough to keep him out of jail, next to Clemens. "I got the drugs in the DR, I shot up without knowing what it was, it never dreamed on me it was illegal?"

    Well, once a liar, always a liar.

    This isn't over, Chickie. Not by a long shot. It's going to be a GREAT year!

    At 7:41 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said… must be a Red Sox fan. He\she (all-in-one?) seems to think steroids are a Yankees thing. If anything the Yankees get burned by it more than any other team by getting duped into giving guys big contracts not knowing they juiced.

    Regardless who your team is, they had juicers, maybe even big name franchise guys. If you don't believe that then you are dumber than Selig for thinking he has no blame in this. I loved how he tried to put this all on Arod.

    I could care less about PED's. Im all for banning them and testing, however, I really don't think the stuff these guys accually did were that big of a deal.

    Maybe Im wrong, I don't care. They are cleaner now and the Bombers are stacked.

    Play ball!

    Great article from SI back in June of 1979. Like I have been saying, steroids goes back, back, back...... (and by most peoples current views....) all records are GONE!

    The problem is that people are always going to look for an edge. Steroids back in the day was harmful, so they banned them.

    During my amateur sports career, everyone was looking through the GNC to find the edge. Little by little these have been banned.

    They aren't that bad. But, I don't care if they want to ban it and Im 100% against anyone who broke the rules. However, Im not going to say anything A-Rod or Sosa or Pettitte did was only because of it.

    Had to have been mental more than anything else

    I hate to say it, I don't think A-Rod helped himself any with this press conference. Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back I think he should've stopped after the Gammons thing. In fact, I don't even know if he should've done the Gammons' interview.

    A-Rod's problem is he has the wrong people whispering the wrong things in his ears. The way this whole thing should've been handled was the day after the news broke A-Rod should've called his own press conference sat a table with a microphone by himself for somewhere from 5-10 minutes to read a prepared speach that could be summed up as: "Yes I used steroids, I made a mistake, I regret it, I regret that I was caught doing it but I've learned my lesson. I'm not answering any questions because I've already answered the only important one. Judge me how you want. My focus is on winning a World Series."

    Unfortunately, A-Rod doesn't think this way and this whole mess has just gotten a lot worse because the NY media is not pleased with the answers they got.

    steroids are against the law. if you broke the law, you would be punished, a-roid breaks the law and he gets a $gazillion dollar contract, and some of you people are cool with that?

    mlb needs to release the rest of the names.

    "I couldn't agree more. Lets Play Ball!!!"

    Yeah, let's play ball with the juiced-up liar as the centerpiece of my team!!!

    Let me count the lies...

    Boli-not available even by prescription in the DR, much less OTC;

    Seen in the close company of a banned trainer and steroid dealer;

    His cousin isn't his cousin. Hard to say who this clown is;

    Yeah, right. Glad he's YOUR guy, not mine. Tommy Flanders would be laughing at how much this guy lies.
