Yankeeschickography: NEVER Doubt Canseco
Monday, February 09, 2009
Remember that Yankeeschicography I posted last year where I called Jose Canseco a liar for claiming to have proof that A-Rod took steroids?

I guess I owe him an apology, don't I.

Today's vid will take care of that. Now if only A-Rod would apologize to US...

I think the best thing ARoid can do right now is like you said just apologize. People will forgive him if he just apologizes.

Now wait.. he still hasn't produced his proof. And saying that A-Rod asked him about them is about as reliable as me saying I am best friends with the President.

The sporting world as we know is crumbling. Baseball is smeared with steroid scandals and now football is about to follow in it's footsteps. Dana Stubblefield is naming names. I never understood, with all the congressional posturing, why football was never included. I say they just test everyone across the board and pass a stipulation that anyone who fails a test will be isqualified frmo any Hall of Fame considerations. If that doesn't clear things up then I don't know what will.

I agree - an apology, if done the right way, could go a long way. He better do that ASAP.

So how did this strike you?

I wonder what the backlash will be. He says it was only 3 years of use. If so, what he did befoer and after stands, bbut how true is it?

Even with the apology, it's A-Rod nobody's going to forgive and it's not going to go away. The only way to make life easier for himself is to hit .340 with 45 homers, 115+ RBIs and lead the Yankees to a World Series Championship this year. To him I say, good luck with that. I hope he does it because I'm a Yankee fan and I'm always going to root for the team and players but I'll believe he can pull this off when I see it.

As far as the issue of A-Rod using steroids. I'd say it's disappointing and surprising but sadly, it's neither to me. I've come to suspect EVERY player from this era ever since about 2003-04 when things started picking up steam.

Why are you upset? He did it for the fans as much as he did it for himself. Players shouldn't be punished or ostracized for wanting to perform at the highest level. Performance enhancing drugs should be allowed in every sport....why? Because sports are a spectacle...plain and simple. Leave your emotional and altruistic investments out of it. I want to see superhuman athletes crush monster homeruns and hit over a 100 in a season if possible. I want to see a running back plow thru 10 defenders like freight train. Who cares about the history of the game and what players in the golden era achieved? They didn't have multi-million dollar contracts, sponsors and shareholders and world wide legions of fans to appease. This is a new era of sports which is payed for by the fan in more ways than one. So why not let us enjoy the spectacle that it is...call it gladiatorism if you will. Are you not entertained?
