How long until this beautiful moment is deemed "not that great" by dimwits for not occurring in October?
Moments like A-Rod's walk-off grand slam (the 3rd of his career, making him one of just three Yanks players in history to have 3) today quite literally make my heart skip a beat. In the grand scheme of the season, today's win will probably prove to be inconsequential, but the look on A-Rod's face as he watched that ball sail over the center field wall will be tattooed on my brain for a long time to come. Even better than A-Rod's endearing reaction, of course, was that of the rest of the team upon his return to the dugout: seeing such a show of overt public A-Rod support gave me a fraction of hope that he won't be ostracized to the point of fleeing the city as fast as his legs will carry him.
Thanks to the powers that be at the evil empire Cable Television Headquarters of the World, the Yankees game was blacked out for the Yankees Chick today, and after becoming thoroughly disheartened and on the verge of sickness from the first 5 disappointing innings I turned the volume down on the ol' MLB Radio and essentially gave up on the game entirely. Imagine, then, my surprise when I tuned in to ESPN and caught the highlights...
