A-Rod: Watch This Video
Friday, June 01, 2007
Lest you think I have neglected to comment on the latest A-Rod debacles, I have crafted a new video detailing my feelings about the issues and pleading for a reprieve from the media so that A-Rod can focus his delicate brain on baseball. Sadly, I have a very bad feeling that all this media attention will have the same effect it always does on poor Alex: the pressure will mount and he'll start to break down on the field and at the plate. Please help.

Respectfully, Yankees Chick, I don't agree on A-Rod, and there IS a difference between what Reyes and A-Rod did. Reyes was jockeying back and forth, which has always been accepted. A-Rod called out "I got it" or "Mine", and even some of his teammates--according to one of the NY papers, though I don't recall which one--were ticked off at what he did. Is that a double standard? Maybe, but it's one that Baseball has repsected for years

I work with a bunch of Yankees fans (six in total). All of them have cheered for the Bombers forever. Only one defended what A-Rod did, and he was candid enough to admit that if it had been a Blue Jays player who did that against the Yankees, and that it had cost New York a game, he would have been mightily ticked off.

I wonder what the papers would have said if the play were reversed and A-Rod dropped the ball. He would have ot be under heavy security 24 hours a day.

I'm ambivalent about A-Rod. I want to like him like I liked Donnie Baseball. People give him grief because of his contract. Well how many baseball players will tell their agents that $252 million is way too much money, tell the team to give me less please.

Pure jealousy. He gets paid more than anyone, so he might be beloved like Sean Casey, but he is still one of the elite players in baseball.

After the "Big Giant Head" breaks Aaron's record, I want a Yankee, yes A-Rod, to reclaim it.

On that I agree. There is no more loathesome a figure in Baseball than Barroid.

By the way, this "unwritten rule" horseshit is another phrase for "loser talk." The only time we ever hear about this so-called code of ethics is when someone fucks up or gets victimized by a clever play, such as Howie Clark's abortion on Wednesday or the time Curt Schilling lost a perfect game in the ninth inning when an opposing batter bunted for a hit. Suck it up, Nancys.

AROD loves the media attention. He likes to see his name in the headlines. It's his fuel.

Wow, I pull for you since baseball commenting is dominated by males, but then I listen to your comparison here between the balks and arods bush league tactics and it becomes clear you really have no idea what you're talking about.

Mikey... I stand by my opinion that arods "trick" was not unsportsmanlike in any way. If the jays can't decipher who is talking to them, then too bad for them..

alliteration my anonymous friend.... not to mention sarcasm... if you take 2 seconds to read my blog here you'll see that I am quite a sarcastic and most certainly self-deprecating gal.

additionaly, if you're going to make such a comment, don't hide behind anonymity! let us all judge you as well :)

Balls coming down, someone yells mine. You're listening for the first sound of someone calling you off. You don't recognize a voice. Not to mention the ss and third baseman hadn't played together basically at all.

I think you should do gossip. You simply don't get baseball, never been around it, never played it. So when you say "I don't see anything wrong with it" it means next to nothing.

Anyway, good luck with your site. I'm gone.

    good riddance, mike.

i dont "get" baseball? having an opinion on one person's "trick" has nothing to do with whether or not i "get" it. if you ask around, i think you will find MANY different opinions on the matter, from both ends of the spectrum. just because someone does not agree with YOU does not mean they don't "get" baseball. as for it being or not being considered "acceptable", how do you feel about runners purposely sliding into 2nd when they have no chance, just to avoid the other team being able to turn the double play? is that alright? how about pine tar? is that alright? how about heckling from fans to distract outfielders? is that ok? how about the old fake throw to first? is THAT ok? i'd love to hear what you think... because regardless of what others think, i'm sure you are right.

i have never played baseball? true, i have never played "baseball", because girls tend to have to play softball, at least in my town and at my school. but yes, i have played softball, for many, many years. i don't claim to have been much good, but i certainly know how to play, i know the rules, i know the strategies, i know the mechanics.

i've never been "around" baseball? watching every yankees game, every padres game, and many other games in between each year counts for nothing? attending games since i was a small child (albeit at dodgers stadium... yikes!) counts for nothing?

on that note, thanks for the "good luck". couldnt have done it without ya!
