Help A Chick Out, Drunkards |
Friday, September 14, 2007 |
As a newcomer to this lovely (and by "lovely" I mean "no really, how does anyone afford to live here?") city, I am not familiar with all the best (and by "best" I mean "cheap") joints where a gal can watch a Yankees game with fellow die-hards. Suggestions, Manhattanites? Somewhere midtown would be grand, and bonus points if you know a place that serves Dr. Pepper - the Yankees Chick has thus far been utterly disappointed with this town's lack of support for her favorite beverage.

I don't know about Dr. Pepper (I'm a fan too) or midtown (tourist trap) but Dorrians on the UES - 84th and 2nd - is our bar of choice when we go out for a game.
You may even bump into a Yankee, most likely a coach, Kevin Long has been there once or twice.

unfortunately i cannot help you out, but i do know that pavano has been spotted at justin timberlake's new restaurant on 77th and 2nd a few times. perhaps you can make a trip up/down there and punch him in the face for all of us?

"RUDY'S" 8th&44th Look for the big pink pig at the door. And for gods sake don't eat the free hot dogs.

Ship of Fools on 82nd and 2nd Ave on the UES is awesome for any sort of sports-watching, including Yankee games. Bonus: good food!

cheap place to watch yankees in Midtown.. I don't think there are any. But you can try the following: Jeremy Ale House (Dive bar, South strett seaport) 228 Front Street $5.75 for a quart of beer, fresh sea food Barrow Street Ale house: 15 Barrow street, (Village)good food, and beer Off the Wagon )(college dive Bar) 109 Macdougal Street (NYU, village) Stouts 133 W 33rd Street near Penn Station Lots of tv & wide screens

Mercury Bar, 9th Avenue between 45th and 46th Street.

Dorians Red Hand... it's the ultimate yankees hangout. check out the sweet memorabilia and chat with the coolest bartender ever: carrie, about the parties the yanks from the glory days of the late 90's used to have there. also recently, youngsters hughs and chamberlain were spotted there catching some drinks prior to the recent road trip.

try brother jimmy's (92/3rd) the best yankees/sports bar in town. rudy's is tons of fun, too. also--now get ready for this-- 'standings' on 7th street in the eVil. it is ugggghhh! a redsawx bar! but the owner is great and plenty of yankee loyals go there for a very amiable and fun time. also an exemplary tap selection of beers. one last unexepectedly great bar for games is 'the horseshoe bar' (aka 7B) a classic eVil dive with great tvs and a decidely not your average sports bar crowd that's really into sports. let's go Can-O!!
