I Call Bullshit, Jose |
Tuesday, January 15, 2008 |
Jose Canseco has made it his life's work to out every cheater in town (himself included - fairness counts!), first with his 2005 book Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big and his accompanying extreme outspoken-ness and now his plans to publish a part deux to the book and expose some more players. He has vowed to show some proof that our dear A-Rod needs to be grouped amongst the big-headed PED-users, but personally, I don't buy it...

Although I agree Jose is trying to get some fame and calling a lot of people out that may or may not have used, I still think it's to quick to jump to conclusions with A-Rod. There are many types of juice and even pro swimmers have been caught using even when there was no signs of bulk build up.

It's possible ARod juiced, though if you look at pics of him when he was a teenager he was already huge, not like McGuire or Canseco who went from stick men to muscle bound monsters.
Canseco's been right before when everyone thought he was full of crap, but unless he really does have some evidence he should probably just STFU.

Jose' Canpyscho can forget about it. I read that he had to find a different publisher for this one because of his lack of evidence. If A-Rod was juicing there would have been some sort of evidence somewheres along the line. Notta nothing zippo.

anon numero dos... your comment is both ridiculous and completely inappropriate. i don't see what that has to do with this post, canseco, or the steroids rumors. furthermore, bulimia is a serious disease and to joke around about it is immature, insensitive, and just plain stupid.

At this point, I'm not surprised if ANYONE is taking steroids. Yes, A-Rod isn't bulky, but you can do a 4-6 week cycle of steroids before the season starts, and train for lean muscle as opposed to mass.
I also doubt that A-Rod has taken steroids, but I can't say for sure about anyone. Even a fat shit like Antonio Alfonseca could be juicing to help recovery time.

I am completely with you, YC! I've been an ARod fan for a while (even before he joined the Yanks) and he's been consistent throughout his career. No abberation seasons, no massive weight/mass gain. He hits, hits for power and has speed. Something he's always done. There's a reason that everyone has wanted him since he was a teenager. Canseco may have known a few things so he's not completely full of it, but he's also still a money hungry attention whore, so he'll still look to attack the best player in the game. I give him no credence.

Make fun on Canseco's reasons all you want, but if there is one person that has earned credibility on the issue of steroids it is him.
He got mocked and laughed at by his fomer peers when he released Juiced, including a famous Boston pitcher who claimed he "grossly overstated the problem". Turns out he knew more than they did, and helped open the door to all the tests and penalties we have today.
While I'd be shocked if he waited all the way until now to out ARod (why wouldn't that be in the first book?), you have to at least hear him out before you discredit him.

Just a note about plantar fasciitis - I was diagnosed with it this morning, and the doc said it's quite common and he'd probably see 2 or 3 more patients with it just today.
I obviously have no idea whether Giambi's was related to steroids or not. But I know I'm a total wuss, am not the least bit athletic, and my head - although large - is normal sized. So I am not on any PED's, and I've got plantar fasciitis.
