For better or for worse, the DH rule has been with us for quite some time now -- 35 years, to be exact: it was April 6th, 1973 that pitchers in the AL put down their bats for good (or until the post-season and more recently the inter-league play shenanigans), and it was a big change for baseball, one that has garnered plenty of controversy over the years.
