GM Meetings Update!
Sunday, November 09, 2008
Nothing happened.

Zero.

Nary an interesting rumor came to light.

The waiting game for a big move - which we KNOW is on the way (at least one) - continues...

Why all the talk about a 35 year old that strikes out 140+ times a season and only hits about a .240 clip playing CF?

What the hell are you talking about?

I was talking about the trade rumors for Mike Cameron, YC was talking about the fact that no good rumors had started to swirl at that point. What are you talking about?

Hmmm, wonder if the Cuban-Wonder-Boy, Dayan Viciedo, will end up in the Yankees OF. I am still curious to see if Juan Miranda will ever mature into something tangible.

I just hope that the Steins give us a team we can root for and not just a 250 million payroll.

OK, I have a serious issue with the talk of the "top 3" pitchers out there. A) We will not get anything close to a 3.00 ERA or under from Sabathia. B) Lowe will have an ERA of about 4.8- 5 once he leaves the weak NL west and comes to the AL East (and thats being nice). C) Burnett will not amass more than 125 - 140 IP this year.

Peavy on the trade market sounds good but once again, going from pitching to the NL west (in PetCo no less) to the AL East will not work to well for the guy. May still get a 3.5 ERA but the adaption phase may be enough to crush his psyche.

I think we may need to keep up with the grooming of prospects if we are ever to dig out of the pitching mess that is the NYY.

Somebody wake me when the Yanks make a move.

Yankee Fiend has it right. The FA market's prices are inflated and have been for years. The Yankees got some real value in Swisher and yes they will dig deeper into their minors for answers, rather than their pockets.

Sabathia agrees to sign with Yankees!!!!!!!!!!! One down, who's next?

I thought the signing of C.C. would bring you out of your cyber-hibernation. Now, if we can sign Tex I'll be content. I still think C.C. is getting overpaid but there is no doubt this bolsters our pitching staff nicely. I think we should leave Burnett and Lowe alone. Maybe look at a couple cheaper options but also they can't be scared to let guys like Acevedo and Coke get a chance.

While I am a die-hard Yankee fan, this is some great, well-deserved Michael Kay bashing here:

I am surprised to see that this blog has been inactive for nearly two months even though the Yankees signed Sabathia, Burnett, and then Teixeira. Is everything OK?
