Just Like Mother Theresa! But Without The Crazy Fanaticism And Religious Superstitions!
Monday, January 21, 2008
This here bloggity has been home to a considerable amount of sorrow (first round exits from the playoffs every year I've been blogging!), bitterness (remember: Pavano Must Die), and frustration, but the ol' Yankees Chick has a positive streak, too! Remember my short-lived and half-hearted attempt to rally some love for Pavano last year? And my ongoing support of A-Rod, of course! Yes, I CAN BE and often am delighted by this team and its members, and in the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr - AKA the reason you slackers aren't at work today - I thought I'd mention the fact that both the Melk Man and A-Rod are being recognized for their philanthropic efforts with the Thurman Munson Award. Good work, men!

Someone better call IKEA for A-Rod, STAT... his trophy case has got to be full to capacity at this point. This one could be the straw that broke the camel's back.

yes, because "crazy fanatacism" and "religious superstition" helped run orphanages, AIDS hospices, and charity centers that improved thousands of lives.

but wait, maybe she never ran a pretentious self-centered blog.

    I guess in that respect:

Hey, I never said she didn't do good things! Just that Melky and A-Rod didn't share the qualities of fanaticism and superstition.

A person can still do good things even if they believe in craziness.

Wow. It's nice to see "believer" really is a believer in Mother Teresa's ideals... [rolls eyes]

As someone that works in non-profit, I always think it's a good thing to bring attention to the philanthropic efforts of athletes and celebs. And I don't mean in the "they showed up somewhere and got their face in the paper but that's all they did" kind of attention. I wasn't aware of Melky's works but ARod has been very generous with his time and his checkbook. No matter what people may think of him on the field, ARod has been very supportive of charity and it's good to see it is recognized.
